HL-WBH - High Level Whole Body Hyperthermia

Industry Sector: Medical

Purpose and Origin: Method developed by Prof. Alexei Suvernev of the Siberia Hyperthermia Institute in Novosibirsk/Russia for the safe and effective treatment of HIV, cancer and other viral diseases.

Technical Detail: The treatment is achieved through a process of high level whole body hyperthermia (43.5-44oC) applied in a water bath over a period of about 40-50 min. per session. It uses a specially developed method of anaesthetic protection and forced/artificial ventilation. The treatment can be applied on its own, as well as in conjunction with radiation and chemotherapy (cancer), antiretrovirals (HIV) and other currently used drugs, the effects of which it substantially reinforces. So far about 2000 patients (1/3 HIV) treated without a single fatality or long time ill-effect. Equipment and method patents for the technology have been applied for, and a proprietary trademark for the treatment is also being developed.

Potential Applications: Effective treatment of viral and other immune system diseases.

Market Potential: The technology can be used by every health facility in the world to treat HIV, cancer, hepatitis C, etc. effectively and safely, subject to prior proper training.

Marketing Category: The technology will be licensed to potential healthcare facilities and exploited by the company for its own account by setting up and operating HL-WBH treatment facilities across the world.

Costs and Limitations: In addition to its effectiveness, the treatment is very cost effective. The only known limitation on its application is the overall health situation of any specific patient.

Alternatives Treatment Methods: No other similar treatment method exists today which can achieve the high temperature level of HL-WBH. The widely used lower temperature hyperthermia is not known to bring similar benefits. And only in exceptional circumstances do the various existing drug and radiation therapy protocols provide long term remission and cure of these diseases, albeit at a much higher cost and potential side-effects.
